Getting there
(Almost) Everything you need to know for your travels to and around Steamboat
Flying to Steamboat
Steamboat (HDN)
This is the most direct route for out-of-state guests. During the Summer, you can fly into Steamboat’s regional airport via connections from Denver (DIA) or Houston (IAH). The airport is about 30 minutes from downtown. There are options for a shuttle service, rental cars, or rideshare.
Aspen (ASE)
Perhaps the most creative and scenic option. Guests can arrive in Aspen from several major hubs and then drive about 3 hours through some of Colorado’s most dramatic terrain. Again, we would recommend this as an option only for guests who are looking to extend their trip.
Denver (DIA)
The most flexible route. From DIA, Steamboat is 3.5-4 hour drive passing through Summit County via I-70. The drive is mostly scenic and is great for guests looking to extend their trip and explore some Colorado’s other mountain towns. Rental car service is available as well as the Steamboat Airport Express shuttle.

Getting around town
Do I need a car?
This depends on the type of trip you’re hoping to have. If you fly into Steamboat (HDN) and you don’t have time or interest in hiking or other activities, you could make it around town easily. Steamboat is small community centered around the downtown area and resort. There’s a free bus service that can get you almost anywhere in town as well as a bike path system.
How will I get to and from the wedding events?
Based on the availability of lodging, you will most likely be staying downtown or at the base area. This is great news for you because that’s where our events take place!
The free Steamboat bus:
Both venues are located directly on the bus’ main line. For the ceremony, get off at the Gondola Transit Center stop. To get to the reception, you’ll board again at the transit center and get off at Lincoln/11th Ave, about 100 ft. away from the venue.
Driving:
If you prefer to drive, we recommend carpooling with others. There are parking garages at the base area of the mountain for the ceremony. For the reception, find street parking downtown, or park at Howelsen Hill or the Library–these will require a couple blocks of walking. View directions here | Howelsen Hill Parking | Library Parking
Bike:
This is a legitimate option, not a joke. The ride from the mountain to the reception venue is about 4 miles, mostly on the Yampa Core trail. Better yet, heading downtown is more or less all downhill. View the route here.
Do I need a 4x4?
No, especially in the Summer the roads do not require anything special. However, some hikes and one of the hot springs require driving on steep dirt roads. If you intend on including those in your trip, a car with some ground clearance is a good idea.
